PVA Mold Release
PVA Mold Release Agent for Gelcoats and Resins
Polyvinyl Alcohol, or PVA is a mold release spray that is easy-to-use for all composite molds or epoxy projects. PVA Partall #10 resists the solvents in the polyester or epoxy resin system and is water soluble, making cleanup easy. PVA can be used with a wide variety of fiberglass resin or Carbon Fiber projects where you require a clean release. Spray gun is required.

PVA Mold Release Agent
PVA Partall #10 is a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) water/alcohol solution of water-soluble, film-forming materials for mold release applications. This parting film is particularly recommended as a parting agent for separation between polyester or epoxy resins and various mold surfaces. It is not recommended for use with resins containing water or giving off water during the cure.
PVA will not shrink and pull away from corners or curved surfaces. After resin has dried, the film separates easily from the mold and is readily dissolved from the molded parts with water. An occasional coating of Partall Paste #2 is required on most mold surfaces before application of Partall Film #10. May be applied over gel coat as a surface cure agent.
PVA is recommended to be used in conjunction with a paste wax, like Stoner Mold Release, TR-104 or Honeywax, and is applied to the mold surface and allowed to dry.
Apply release wax to the mold and allow to haze over (roughly 5-15 minutes). Wipe excess wax off with a clean rag or Microfiber cloth.
Apply PVA by either brushing over the surface or preferably spraying 3-6 inches above the project in a thin coating and allow 15 minutes to dry.
Apply two additional coats, minimum, with a larger volume of PVA, allowing each coat to dry for 45 minutes before applying additional coats.
One gallon can cover over 400 square feet.
