Our Superclear® WB Primer & Sealer is the ideal system to prime and seal surfaces before applying epoxy resin. Compatible with most substrates, this water activated priming and sealing product offers the strongest bond, seal, and color backing for epoxy.
Using the Coverage Chart, determine the amount of epoxy you will need for your project. Lightly sand the surface of your substrate to assist in primer bonding and clean with Superclean or Isopropyl Alcohol (90% or higher). Apply tape to any areas that will not require priming and sealing.
Ensure your working environment is clean, dry and at least 70 to 84 degrees for best results. Lay down a plastic sheeting below your project for a safe, easy cleanup. Make sure your surface is completely level, as the epoxy will self-level.
Shake the A and B side jugs vigorously to agitate the product. If the material is not properly agitated, it may not cure properly.
Measure 2 parts Resin to 1 part Activator and pour into a clean, dry bucket or cup. Add 20-30% distilled water to the mixture. Stir the mixture for at least 5 minutes with a drill mixer set to low. Ensure you are not whipping air into your epoxy. Be sure to scrape the sides and bottom to ensure all of your epoxy is properly mixed.
Transfer contents to a new, clean, dry bucket or cup and continue mixing for 5 more minutes to ensure proper mixing, again scraping sides and bottom.
Apply a thin, even coating to the surface with a foam roller or paintbrush. Be careful not to apply too thick, or water blisters will form.
Allow the material to become hard and tacky to the touch before applying Superclear Countertop Epoxy.
– You need to stir it by hand for a minimum of 10 minutes, scraping the sides and bottom thoroughly throughout while mixing.
– WB Primer & Sealer is similar to paint in terms of application, so it should be applied in a thin, even coating. The thickness of your prime and seal coat will depend on a variety of factors, including the amount of water added, surface preparation, surface porosity, temperature, humidity, mass, and airflow. If you have never poured a thick, we suggest you try it on a smaller scale to understand how it will cure in your particular environment.
– The product will feel cured in 1 to 8 hours, depending upon conditions like the amount of water added, constant temperature, humidity, mass and airflow.
– Yes! Simply wait until the pour is at least tacky and nearly hard and pour your next layer. If the product is already hard, clean the surface with Superclearn or Isopropyl Alcohol (90% or higher) before adding another layer.
